	Debbie Bliss "Essential Kids" Another great book from the Debbie Bliss range, Essential Kids has 20 simple but beautiful designs from blankets and cushions to polo shirts and anoraks. The section on knitting basics includes information on choosing yarn to advice on knitting techniques making this a lovely present for the new as well as the more experienced knitter. A book you'll come back to again and again.

	Patons Orient New for Autumn 2008, Patons Orient is a beautiful lustrous yarn with a soft, silky sheen in a standard DK weight, available in a selection of jewel colours. Wonderful for Christmas! We have other Patons yarns on special offer - click the tab at the top of the page to have a look.

	New Yarns from Noro Noro have introduced two wonderful new yarns to their range this season. Silk Garden Lite is as soft and as wonderful to knit with as the the re-knowned Silk Garden but, as the name suggests, is a slightly "slimmer" version, kntting more to a DK tension. This self-striping sock yarn is part of the Kuryon range from Noro. The 70% wool, 30% polyamide mix produces a hardwearing wool ideal for socks, but the vibrant colours lend themselves to scarves, hats and more.

	Noro Pattern Books Noro Designer Mini Knits features Noro's fantastic range of yarns. You'll find patterns for Silk Garden and Kureyon yarns among others. No project takes more than 4 balls of Noro so this is a great little book to try out the extraordinary yarns in this range.

	Yarn Forward Magazine Yarn Forward is the UK's only independent knitting magazine. The patterns are excellent and the articles are interesting and useful. Each pattern has 3 alternative yarns to suit all budgets! Terrific idea! We have back copies here and the current issue here

	Brittany knitting needles & Crochet Hooks. These special needles are made in Northern California of sustainably harvested domestic birch hardwood. They are beautifully balanced and do not get as "sticky" as aluminium needles tend to do. We currently have in stock a full range of double pointed needles and single points as well as a set of three cable needles. We have now added the crochet hooks to the range. They are beautifully turned and a joy to work with. Both needles and hooks are favourably priced, starting at £4.50.

	The Mirasol Collection We are really excited by these new yarns from peru - Tik'a Cotton, and Hacho 100% wool, not only because of the vibrant colours and the amazing quality of the yarn but also because purchasing this yarn, and the associated pattern book, Mirasol Collection Book 2, helps the women of the Mirasol Project in Peru. for more information about the projects work, visit www.mirasolperu.com.

	Twilleys 100% Organic Cotton DK Twilleys 100% organic cotton dk is a recent release on the market. Each pack has a certificate to confirm it's organic status. The resulting yarn is therefore not only better for the environment, but also produces a superior, softer cotton for the knitter. The colours are beautifully muted for the summer and we have a super range of leaflets and pattern books.

	Manos del Uruguay New to yarnsmith is the fabulous silk blend from Manos del Uruguay (Hands of Uruguay!). Silk Blend is produced by a co-operative of over 800 women producing high quality yarns for customers throughout the world. We have three lovely shades in stock. 100g skein. Approx 270 mts/300yds.30% silk, 70% extra fine merino wool.

	Artesano Inca Cloud Alpaca Inca Cloud 100% alpaca, soft and very warm. It is distributed by Artesano, a family run business. They practise fair and ethical trade policies and buy only from co-operatives. The cost of the yarn goes directly to the people who make and spin it. Inca Cloud is just £3.50 and we have a whole range of colours available. You can use it with any pattern that calls for a 4mm needle or dk weight yarn and we also have specific patterns available at £2.10 each.

	Children's Knitting Needles You are never too young to knit and these Knitting Needles specifically designed for children are a great starting point. Just 17cm long we stock three different sizes, 3mm,3.5mm and 4mm, which are proving to be very popluar with teachers as knitting is having a welcome resurgence in schools! Team these needles up with some bright wool and How to Knit from the Usbourne Art range and you have a great christmas or birthday present.

	Sari silk scarf kit The recycled sari silk yarn is a perfect gift. Not only is it beautiful, but each purchase helps out the Nepalese women who spin it. 	Cashmerino DK Pattern Book Debbie Bliss has just brought out the Cashmerino DK Pattern Book. This book includes contemporary designs for women using Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK. The emphasis is on modern designs using classic stitches that flatter and fit.

	Debbie Bliss Patterns Baby Cashmerino 3 has arrived and includes fourteen designs for babies up to two years. We have 23 of Debbie's Pattern Books including this summers' favourite Coastlines which has some beautiful, chic designs.

	Finishing Techniques for Handknitters Much more than the name suggests, this is a fantastic reference book for novice and expert alike. 	Baby Knits for Beginners Baby Knits for Beginners is a great gift for anyone who is new to knitting. The book costs £12.99 and includes designs like this boat neck sweater. The sweater calls for 2-4 balls of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran which is just £3.75 per ball. You will also need size 4.5 and 5mm needles.
